Competing Interests
The only conflict of interest is that peptide IDR-1018, discovered by REWH and colleagues, has been filed for patent protection in multiple jurisdictions, assigned to UBC and licenced to Elanco for Animal Health applications and is also under development as a potential therapeutic for hyperinflammation in Cystic Fibrosis with funding from Cystic Fibrosis Canada's Translational Initiative. The peptide has received Notice of allowance in the United States of America and New Zealand. The authors' confirm that this does not alter the authors' adherence to all the PLOS ONE policies on sharing data and materials.
