Reviewer #1: The article is a timely contribution to identify urgent research gaps in hygiene and health related climate adaption. It identifies and ranks leading global research questions to be addressed over the short-, medium-, and long-term context to develop a research roadmap based on a consensus approach with global stakeholders. The authors describe well the use of the Child Health and Nutrition Research Initiative (CHNRI) method for the questionnaire to identify the research priorities and their ranking well. The methodology allowed to receive a targeted response from 40 countries, with an indicative consensus on research gaps and urgent roadmap to prepare countries adaptation to climate change, encompassing important aspects on addressing gender and age vulnerabilities among others. The article is written clearly and makes an important contribution to the field. It would have been interesting to include a map on the participating countries and different rankings of research questions by country or region. While the authors mention a strong consensus for leading questions, I wonder if there might be other questions more important to specific countries, regions or stakeholders. A reflection on this one or a map with an reflection might add an important detail to the current article.
