Reviewer #1: The manuscript is technically sound and is in accordance with PLOS Climate’s Publication criteria. It is written in Standard English. However, at certain places, sentences maybe reframed to a shorter statement. The authors discuss the acceptance of regulatory and economic transport policies and draw conclusions based on rigorous data analysis. Adequate literature has been cited to build the argument. Data has been shared, though the figure attached could be improvised. The flow is lucid and the policies have been discussed in detail. The manuscript ends with limitations of the study as well as recommendations for future research.

Reviewer #2: Authors are keen in designing the research question and hypothesis. They have systematically analysed the data and drawn inferences with the support of the data. Adequate review of literature has been collected.

However, authors could have also worked out a simulated model on GHG emissions with and without acceptance of the recommended policy.
