Preprints
A preprint is a version of a scientific manuscript posted on a public server before formal peer review. As soon as it’s posted, a preprint becomes a permanent part of the scientific record, citable with a unique DOI.
Preprints are a free, easy option for authors to communicate and get credit for their work earlier which can be useful to grant proposals, job applications, or increasing visibility. They’re also a good way to broaden the audience for your research and receive feedback from a range of experts.
We highly encourage authors to share their work as a preprint when they’re ready: before, during, or after journal submission.
