PLOS Aging and Health is an open access journal that publishes transformative work from researchers, clinicians, public health scientists, social scientists, and policymakers across the spectrum of aging research. This selective journal publishes ethical, impactful, immediately accessible research that advances our understanding of aging by integrating biological, developmental, clinical, neurological, and functional dimensions.
When you choose PLOS Aging and Health, you become part of a global, inclusive community of scholars who believe rigorous research deserves to be discoverable, widely disseminated, and freely accessible–to advance science for the benefit of all.

Meet our Editors-in-Chief
Jennifer A. Schrack, PhD, MS
Jennifer Schrack is an epidemiologist who studies the intersection of movement and health in the context of late-life disability. She serves as MPI of the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS), which aims to understand late-life trends in disability and functioning. In addition, she is PI or MPI on three NIH-funded projects investigating the intersection of movement, mobility, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Her research leverages technology to improve the measurement and understanding of movement behaviors -and associated health outcomes- in older adults. Collectively, her findings aim to improve the lives of older adults by enabling earlier detection of adverse health outcomes, when intervention and treatment are most likely to be effective.

Sara Hägg, PhD, MS
Sara Hägg leads a research group at the Karolinska Institutet specializing in genetic and molecular epidemiology of aging and is recognized as a global leader in the field of human aging. Her work focuses on identifying biomarkers that reflect biological aging in population-based cohorts, and she investigates longitudinal associations with age-related traits and pharmacological interventions using causal inference methods—an area in which she has published extensively. She serves as Principal Investigator for several major research projects funded by organizations such as the Swedish Research Council and the U.S. National Institute on Aging.
