Very interesting

I found this article to be very interesting. Although ribosomes are ubiquitously required for protein synthesis, discerning the effects of changes in individual ribosomal proteins or rRNA nucleotides has been technically challenging, particularly in vertebrates. We have traditionally had to rely on nature providing us with rare mutants (e.g. Blackfan anemia) for such insight. The gene knockdown approach used here represents a tremendous breakthrough for the field.
