The Hippo Pathway Protein YAP1 Regulates Egress of Marburg Virus VP40 VLPs

Marburg virus VP40 protein (mVP40) forms projections from the plasma membrane of HEK293T cells and buds from the cells as virus-like particles (VLPs). Ectopic expression of the Hippo signaling pathway protein YAP1 results in co-localization of mVP40 with YAP1 in the cytoplasm, reducing the number of mVP40 projections at the plasma membrane and subsequent VLP budding. In this confocal image YFP-mVP40 is green and CFP-YAP1 is red, with co-localization appearing as yellow. Han et al.
