Who We Are

Our Academic Editors’ steering of the peer review process and commitment to inclusivity of research from interdisciplinary and niche areas is instrumental to realizing PLOS ONE's mission to progress the scientific record and keep discovery open.

PLOS ONE is an inclusive, multi-disciplinary community of researchers working toward a common goal: to advance science for the benefit of society, now and in the future. We are a collaboration of volunteer editors, reviewers, and authors from over 200 disciplines working together to publish over 20,000 articles each year. Behind each publication is a member of our Editorial Board who has independently assessed the research, sought external reviewers, provided feedback to the authors, and made a final decision about whether the research is ready to be freely shared in the public domain.

I love to help facilitate the dialogue between scientists and reviewers, to lead them to acceptable publications. It’s a learning process for everyone concerned and I am happy to play a small part.

– Chandan Kumar-Sinha, Academic Editor, PLOS ONE
