The Île de France region gathers 8 central emergency medical system dispatch centers (SAMU- Service d’Aide Médicale Urgente), 43 prehospital enhanced mobile care team stations (SMUR- Service Mobile d’Urgence et de Réanimation) and 6 level 1 Trauma Centers (TCs). The region is organized as an exclusive trauma system, conceiving severe trauma care only in the 6 designated TC among all existing tertiary care facilities (n = 87).
