Extremely distressing oversight.
The publication of an article clearly intended to promote some form of intelligent design in PLOS ONE is disturbing. While it is certainly every individual?s right to their opinions, such opinions have no place in the scientific arena and should never have made it past the editorial process. This failure in the peer review and editorial oversight of PLOS ONE is very distressing, particularly to those of use with articles that have been published in PLOS ONE as it may diminish the gravitas of those papers as the journals credibility itself is harmed. The editor or PLOS ONE must respond quickly and forthrightly to correct their failure in this matter if they wish to survive and remain a significant journal in the future.
