This paper reviews old and new neurological evidence for linguistic and cognitive differences between FS+ and FS- right handers underlying the behavioural differences. The paper presents a general theory of cerebral asymmetries that would explain
the observed differences. It suggests that the structure of attested languages is constrained by the two kinds
of neurological organisation for language.

This research shows that FS- people exhibit the standard Early Left Anterior Negativity to ungrammatical sentences, and Early Right Anterior Negativity to anomalous musical sequences; FS+ people do not show this differentiation. This is consistent with
the view that FS+ right handers have greater inter hemispheric processing.

This paper shows that FS+ deaf individuals have a much earlier critical age for learning American Sign Language
than FS- deaf individuals.

This paper reviews a wide range of behavioural phenomena showing that right handers with familial left handedness (FS+)
access words more directly, while FS- people access compositional structure more directly, during language processing.
