We would like to correct an error in Table 2. The NRT2 support for diatoms was inadvertently placed in the cell which should contain NRT2 support for heterokonts (see supplementary figure S2a). There is in fact no support for a monophyletic heterokont clade from the NRT2 analyses, consistent with the results from NAD(P)H NIR analyses that support our conclusions.
