In the last round of the peer review process, we changed the number of simulated agents from around 1M to 10M in response to one of the reviewers’ request. Some of the numbers in the paper were not updated properly to reflect the changes we made. The updated numbers are shown below (page numbers are from the pdf version):
Page 1, under “Findings”, change “23.4% to 22.4” to “26.8% to 26.0%” and change “827 to 152” to “827 to 74”.
Page 6, in the paragraph beginning “Under PIB”, add a phrase “(10.43 million as of 2017 in the state of Georgia)” after “For example, when the vaccine supply is equal to 40% of the population” before the comma.
Page 6, in the paragraph beginning “Under PIB”, change “674” to “753”, change “20.7%” to “19.8%”, and change “3.8%” to “1.8%”.
Page 6, in the paragraph beginning “The cost of the leftover vaccine inventory”, change “667 thousand (95% CI on PIB-PB, 664-669, p < 0.0001)” to “753 thousand (95% CI on PIB-PB, 750-756, p < 0.0001)”. In the last sentence of the same paragraph, change “$4.4 to $10.7 million dollars” to “$5.0 to $12.1 million dollars”.
In addition, a more recent reference that demonstrate the pro-rata principle current used in allocating vaccine is available: “Interim Updated Planning Guidance on Allocating and Targeting Pandemic Influenza Vaccine during an Influenza Pandemic: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; 2018 [cited 2019 Jan 17]. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/p....
