The authors declare that this study was performed as an integral part of MA’s PhD research, to assess the extent to which deployment on animals and GPS fix interval reduces the accuracy and precision of the location data obtained by tracking devices. These devices were optimised for the author’s animal movement research studies through a partnership between the author’s institutions, but have also been made commercially available via a U.K. charity, the British Trust for Ornithology. This does not alter our adherence to PLOS ONE policies on sharing data and materials.
