Volunteer from Partners in Health attends a patient (Maforki Ebola Treatment Unit, Sierra Leone, 2014)
Caring for Ebola patients wearing personal protective equipment is a challenge for the healthcare worker, who must be diligent and careful to avoid personal exposure to the virus, as well as for the patient who is ill, undoubtedly concerned and frightened, and desperately trying to make a connection to the caregiver, who is largely hidden from view except for the eyes visible behind the clear plastic visor.
