Possible Mislabeling in 2010 PUFA Meta-Analysis

Hi Dr. Mozaffarian,

In the meta-analysis, “Effects on Coronary Heart Disease of Increasing Polyunsaturated Fat in Place of Saturated Fat: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials”, your group labeled the Finnish Mental Hospital Study by Turpeinen et al. 1979 in your “Characteristics of Included Studies” as being a "cluster-randomized controlled trial."

However, there is no indication in any of the publications from this dataset published by the original authors that this was a cluster-randomized controlled trial. No mention of “clusters” or any “randomization.” There is mention of crossover, but a cluster? Not that I see. I would appreciate some clarification on why this is labeled as so. I think this is important to clarify since the trial did contribute a notable amount of weight to the pooled results and may largely change the results if the study was never actually randomized.
