Posted by PLOS_Genetics on 12 Feb 2009 at 17:40 GMT

The primers spanning V3 were 338F (ACT CCT ACG GGA GGC AGC AG) and 533R (TTA CCG CGG CTG CTG GCA C). The primers spanning V6 were a combination of 967F primers (CAA CGC GAA GAA CCT TAC C and ATA CGC GA[AG] GAA CCT TAC C) and a combination of 1046R primers (AGG TGN TGC ATG GCT GTC G and AGG TGN TGC ATG GTT GTC G).

The 1046R primer sequences were identified in reverse complement orientation. As a result, there was an error in the second paragraph of the section 'Sampling of Human Gut Microbiome'. The correct text is: The primers spanning V3 were 338F (ACT CCT ACG GGA GGC AGC AG) and 533R (TTA CCG CGG CTG CTG GCA C).
