Misrepresentation

Why are these procedures (Maternal Spindle Transfer, Pronuclear Transfer) continually referred to as "mitochondrial replacement"? At what point is anyone's mitochondria being replaced? Nuclear DNA is placed in an enucleated egg. Mitochondria are in no way being manipulated except by the social convention that the nuclear DNA donor will own the resulting egg by a legal contract.

No competing interests declared.
