(A) In the model, variability (σϕ = 0.07) removes rolloff, causing distribution to approach a power law over three decades (N = 103 lattices). (B) In the experiments, cluster size distributions from individual biofilms are power laws without significant rolloff, consistent with the model and the fact that we find variability in ϕ within each biofilm. Data are from [5] but processed individually for each biofilm.
