Maximum X-linked gene expression in the testis is constrained.

Lines correspond to the fraction of genes with a minimum expression level that are X-linked. For testis (red line), as minimum expression level cut-off increases, the fraction of X-linked genes declines sharply. This decline is not observed for other tissues (gray lines). Gene expression data are from FlyAtlas [69]. The absolute number of genes for each cut-off point is comparable among tissues (not shown). Data found in S1 Data.
