Following Tetraploidy in Maize, a Short Deletion Mechanism Removed Genes Preferentially from One of the Two Homeologs

Inferred, ancient (at least 5 million years old) tetraploidies are identified as stars. Citations are included in a recent review [19], except for the double tetraploidy at the base of the monocots [35] and the placement of the legume-specific tetraploidy (our tentative conclusion).
