Ethical considerations

One has to question the ethical implications of scientists employed in universities simultaneously launching for-profit companies, as well as launching their own research publication outlets which then feature their own research promoting their for-profit businesses. When "big oil" does things like this, we scoff at them. Ideally, these conflicts of interest would not be created in the first place.
