Both α2,3- and α2,6-Linked Sialic Acids on O-Linked Glycoproteins Act as Functional Receptors for Porcine Sapovirus

Porcine sapovirus Cowden strain does not agglutinate RBCs from various species.

Agglutination of pig, cow, chicken, rat and human (ABO and Lewis types) RBCs by PSaV Cowden strain, human influenza A virus strain A/Puerto Rico/8/34 (H1N1) (PR8 virus), P particles of norovirus VA387 strain, or VP8* of human rotavirus DS-1 strain were determined by hemagglutination assay. Results are shown as average hemagglutination titers (Log2) obtained from triplicate samples in three independent experiments. Error bars represent mean ± SD.
