As someone who has worked in the area of plant virus diversity for some 36 years, I ca only echo your recommendations - and especially numbers 1 and 3!
Seriously, it is high time that large surveys of plant incidence were funded, especially in areas of high plant diversity where agriculture is expanding. Like a big chunk of Africa! We have tried to get things like this off the ground, but despite our best efforts with Rockefeller and Gates Foundations in 2007, nothing happened.
Great piece of work, folks; I will be using it as ammo for prising monies out of people back here.
