When very aggressive and highly effective, is not ideal: Auto-immunity/hypersentivity versus tolerance!

A phenomena that is closely related to auto-immunity and or hypersensitivity among PLWHA on HAART is immune-reconstitution syndrome (IRS). This study seems to say ‘that tolerance to HIV-1 infection is good when considering post-treatment control as the favorable outcome’.
As a basic scientists, I am left asking, can induction of tolerance to HIV-1; say by immune-suppressants during acute HIV infection, offer similar outcomes as we see unveiled by the genetic- make up (HLA-types) associated with better tolerance (unfortunately, also increased susceptibility) to HIV.
Just thinking aloud!
