Using mass spectrometry to identify and quantitate sulfoxidation of methionine we found that sulfoxidation of Met213 is probably *not* involved in prion structure conversion. This work was published in Biochemistry: Silva, et al 2010, Biochemistry, 49:1854. It remains possible that Met206 is important.
