The NMR structure of SAP18 shows that it has a ubiquitin fold (McCallum et al., Biochemistry 2006). Based on the structure, this truncation of SAP18 lacks an entire B-strand, and might be unfolded. This would explain why the interaction with IN is not picked up in the two hybrid screen.
