In M. jannaschii, reactions 1 and 3 were suggested to be catalyzed by the multifunctional glycolytic enzyme MJ1585. Reaction 2 was suggested to be catalyzed by triose phosphate isomerase EC (ORFs MJ1528 and OE2500R of M. jannaschii and H. salinarum, respectively). Modified from White and Xu [24].
