An Effective Filter for IBD Detection in Large Data Sets

Overview of SpeeDB and its downstream application.

(A) SpeeDB identifies a set of candidate genomic segments (blue) of individuals in a database and the corresponding genomic segments of a query individual (red) that may be IBD. (B) Candidate segments from the database and the corresponding regions in the query will be sent to an accurate IBD detection tool (such as PARENTE [12]) for inference. Thus, SpeeDB greatly reduces the time necessary to infer IBD on large data sets by reducing the total amount of data on which inference must be applied.
