A reference was omitted. The first citation to this reference is from the second sentence of the second paragraph under the subheading “The need for a long-term perspective” in the Introduction section.

The sentence should read: In essence, specialisation in these fields of enquiry led to the emergence of a number of sub-disciplines that converged in the 1990s to offer a multidisciplinary, or holistic, perspective on the long-term interaction of human and marine life (Holm, et al 2010).
