logic not clear

If the hierarchy hypothesis is correct, then researchers in “softer” sciences should have fewer constraints to their conscious and unconscious biases, and therefore report more positive outcomes

How does this hypothesis follow from the statement above. If anything, one would expect less data from 'soft sciences' or more 'cognitive factors' (which are not defined here. Please explain.
