Moonlight and poaching

This is an excellent piece of research and I applaud the efforts made by Starr et al. – for me one of the more important practical aspects of the research is there where it relates to the conservation of pygmy lorises. The number of lorises collected to supply the demand for so called traditional Asian medicine is staggering and all the information we have on how to more effectively prevent the illegal collection of lorises is clearly needed. If indeed hunters / collectors are more active on certain nights (those where the lorises are more active and more easily spotted) then we need to increase patrolling during these nights.
