This small but solid study helps to establish a key point which, though not entirely new, has yet to filter through into the mainstream methodology for phylogenetic inference. It is a simple concept, but could have important consequences for the way phylogenetic studies are conducted in general: gene order contains useful information for resolving phylogenies.
