First of all, I would like to felicitate the authors for the out-of-box ideia for this work and the open mind of the PLOSone editors in accepting it.
I'll be very glad to follow the near future the continuation of your research line!
Are you thinking in a deeper stats analysis for the understanding of the reasons underlying the emergence of some of the variants?

Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, I am very much interested in which cognitive/cultural/ecological factors make certain variants more "catchy" than others, and am currently engaged in research on this question.
