Cholesterol genes pre GWAS

Posted by ChrisCarter on 07 Dec 2010 at 23:43 GMT

This study confirms several pre GWAS studies and analyses implicating cholesterol in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. Many immune related genes had also already been identified http://www.polygenicpathw.... Many such studies were dismissed because of problems of replication, but it now seems that pathway analysis, where multiple gene interactions are taken into account, are confirming previous associations. Sifting through these data may be very informative.
