Hi,

The hypotheses of microwave heating and microwave induced auditory stimuli are very interesting.

I was wondering (it was not clear from my reading of the article) how the study controlled for effects other than microwave radiation.

If the ATC radars were located close to airports/airbases aircraft activity and noise levels could be a factor affecting bat distribution.

A controlled test would be to set up a microwave antenna in a spot frequented by bats, record bat activity, turn on the microwave for a week, record bat activity, switch off the antenna and record the bat activity for a week or so afterwards.

If indeed microwave seems to be affecting bat density it would be interesting to test for insect density - it is possible that insects are affected by the microwaves and that in turn affects the bat density.

Thanks!
