The incubation mixture contained 200 mM Tris-HCl (pH 8), 10 mM GSH, 3 µg of purified SmPCS and either 0.1 mM CdCl2 or the chelating agent diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (6.3 mM). β-mercaptoethanol (β-Me) was added to 10 mM as indicated. PC2 is expressed in µmol per mg enzyme per min, as quantified by LC-MS. Mean value of three separate assays (± SE) are given. *, p<0.05 by Student's t test.
