Data Access for the Open Access Literature: PLOS's Data Policy

Since their inception, PLOS journals have requested that authors make their data available for others to access. To help make this policy more integral to the publishing process and data access more transparent for authors and readers, PLOS has revised its Data Policy and implemented an integrated approach for authors, from explaining data availability at submission to publishing a data availability statement at publication.

The new PLOS Data Policy is in effect as of March 1, 2014. Read more about what this means and see the policy itself in this cross-PLOS Editorial from Theo Bloom and colleagues.
