The association between blood glucose and fetal cancer, not enough data to adress the causality question

Posted by gwdlandman on 23 Jan 2010 at 16:03 GMT

The author’s state that the link between blood glucose and cancer may be causal but acknowledge that there may be confounding involved for which they did not correct. However they do not mention one important and recently recognized confounder; glucose lowering therapy itself [1]. Glucose lowering therapy is associated with fasting glucose levels and is also associated with cancer mortality. It might be better not to address the question about causality in absence of data on important confounders.
