Thanks for the article. I could not believe what I saw during my first night shift in El Salvador - the Interns falling asleep any place during any free minute they had.

Before coming to El Salvador I actually planned on going to a central or south American country to spend my Intern year there (or parts of it). I really loved my time in El Salvador and enjoyed so many things, but because of those inhuman working conditions I decided to go somewhere else.

Step 1 - "spend the available resources more efficiently" - should take no time. Just the right persons need to check on it. And it doesn't take long to find potentials,

Also, the reader shouldn't forget that the normal medical students (3rd-6th year) work night shifts every 5 days too, so the lack of medical profession is even higher
