I have asked Liz Wager if she is still on the BMJ Ethics Committee and she confirms this so. Surely it is as relevant a piece of information particularly in this context, as the title of 'Publications Consultant'? Some readers will already know but others will not be aware that the BMJ still has an Ethics Committee as it no longer publishes information about it's activities on their website. It would be interesting to learn whether the BMJ Ethics Committee (which I am informed still meets four times a year) shares Liz's views and helpful to see the site set up again as minutes of meetings or the collective decisions of the Ethics Committee re republication ethics are not routinely published - despite a committment to do so some years ago.

Competing interests declared: no competing interest but longstanding involvement in debates re medical ethics
