The authors write "...they [cows] have been considered sacred since the Aryans invaded in the 2nd century, B.C.".

I believe the current consensus is that the Aryans migrated (and did not invade) into the Indian subcontinent around 1500 B.C. The authors should provide a reference to the source from which they got the above information.
