I have noticed that muscular, powerful, energetic people develop hypertension, weight control problems, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and coronary artery disease more often than do lean people with less muscle mass. Also people with high cholesterol seem to be the same people who are good at sports and popular with their peers in elementary and high school. At my high school reunion(class of 1958) those of us who were nerdy pencil pushers, never chosen for the team, are now enjoying fine health. I have also noticed that after a meal you can feel the heat radiate off the people who do not get fat--just hold the back of your hand near their skin. Your study population is perfect for observing the possible positive correlates of insulin resistance. After all, it must confer some advantages since about 1/3 of the population seems predisposed.
