Article-Level Metrics

Comprehensive Assessment of Impact

Article-Level Metrics (ALMs) help guide understanding of the influence and impact of work before the accrual of academic citations. All PLOS journal articles display PLOS ALMs—quantifiable measures that incorporate both academic and social metrics to document the many ways in which both scientists and the general public engage with published research. PLOS ALMs are presented on the metrics tab on every published article. In addition, a signpost in the upper right provides summary metrics of citations, views, shares and bookmarks.

Visit the ALM page at plos.org to learn more about how to showcase the influence of your work. You can also use ALM reports to guide you to the most important and influential work published.
