I was referred to this article by Dr. Mohammed Noor of Duke University for a class I am taking online in genetics and evolution, as further reading.
The question that came to me was whether a great deal of time can be saved in taking advantage of distributive computing by volunteers in order to perform calculations needed for these sorts of studies.
For example, I have participated in the "Folding@home" which is initiated by Stanford University in a project to determine the most likely proteome structures.
Do you think that this would help cut the costs and speed up analysis time?
