Almost at teh outset, it was noted that only in biology was there such a thing as a separate discipline for information, whilst this did not exist for outher sciences. This was seem as teh result of poor math and computing skills of biologists in contrast to other physical sciences that collected lots of data, e.g. physics.

I would suggest that over the last 1 1/2 decades, that biologists have learned to do their own analyses with tools and without help of others, so that the term "bioinformatics" has faded in favor of just doing analyses by practioners.
