Contradictory data

The in-press Endocrinology paper from Anders Blomqvist’s laboratory (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.g...) suggests that PGE2 that triggers fever – even the first (early) febrile phase – comes from brain endothelial cells. This new evidence does not support our conclusion (the 2006 PLoS Biology paper) about the peripheral origination (pulmonary and hepatic macrophages) of PGE2 triggering fever. Blomqvist and his coauthors propose a new pathogenetic sequel for fever, based on their new results and on our 2006 results reported in the journal Blood (http://www.feverlab.net/p...). Clearly, this topic needs more research.
