In addition, STAT1 proteins are phosphorylated on serine 727 prior to nuclear translocation which is essential for their full transcriptional activity [16].

The reference 16 shows that IFN-induced S727 phosphorylation of Stat1 occurs after nuclear translocation and only on chromatin-bound Stat1. That is, the reference 16 is not correctly described.
